I re-worked the work produced in Taipei in 2022 for an exhibition of results in Tokyo. Focusing on the tessoka (iron grills fitted to the outside of windows) that he saw in Taiwan, which function to blur the boundary between the interior of a room and the outdoors by adding an additional space beyond the window, led him to develop on a heightened interest in personal spaces and public spaces. By using a structure that resembled a tessoka with its function to expand an interior outward, Ohta inverted its function into one of extending the exterior inward and thus rearranged the building’s boundary in a way that posed questions about the concept of the distance between inside and outside.
